The Town Bar and Grill in the old cellars below the long-established Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants at 21 Kildare Street, Dublin is where it's happening at the moment.
The 80-seater trattoria style restaurant specialises in modern Italian cooking, but presented in a style more commonly found in New York.
It's the brainchild of Ronan Ryan and Temple Garner. Although it is their first joint venture, the two have actually been working together side-by-side for 10 years, most recently in the award-winning Mermaid Café, and Il Primo in Dublin.
Designed by John Meagher and John Flood of de Blacam Meagher, the Town Bar and Grill is positively humming morning, noon and night.
Temple looks after the cooking while Ronan is front of the house. Temple's menu is certainly innovative, with an emphasis on flavour, seasonality, simplicity and the use of authentic, best-available fresh market ingredients.
